    • I Volunteer As Tribute. The scene that started it all. At the reaping where two tributes are chosen to complete in the annual Hunger Games from every child aged 12 to 18, the young Primrose Everdeen's name is called, but not for long.
    • Rue's Death. The most devastating moment from the series, 12-year-old Rue (Amandla Stenberg) is killed during the games in the first film. As she passes away, Katniss sings her a lullaby before laying her to rest in a bed of wild flowers.
    • President Coin's Death. It was all leading to this. After her ascent to become interim President of Panem, Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) receives punishment from Katniss in the form of an arrow to the heart.
    • Arrow to the Skies. Katniss remembered who the real enemy was. Taking an electrical arrow to the skies, she brings the 75th Hunger Games to an explosive finale, destroying the arena as it goes up in flames around her.
  2. Analysis. This chapter marks an important shift in the novel. With Rue's death, Katniss' hatred toward the Capitol and her desire for revenge against it are at their highest levels.

  3. Then, when it's just Katniss and Peeta left, Claudius Templesmith announces that the earlier revision to the Games' rules has been revoked, that only one Tribute can win. Peeta pulls out his knife and Katniss instinctually points her arrow at his heart, but Peeta just tosses the knife into the lake.

  4. She taunts Katniss rather than killing her immediately, mentioning how she and Cato want her dead, and taunting her with Rue's death. She is preparing to plunge the knife down when Thresh suddenly arrives and yanks her up.

  5. So she and Peeta both take a handful of the poisonous berries and prepare to eat them in a dual suicide. The gambit works, and Claudius Templesmith is suddenly yelling through the sky that they ought to stop, and he announces them both as the victors of the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games. ANALYSIS
