Powered Up was the name of the sixteenth and final Clarkson home video release, as part of a series which would be released yearly through to 2011. It was filmed around the same time that Series 18 of Top Gear was being filmed, though came out more than a month before the season premiered on BBC 2.
For the final two solo releases, Clarkson turned his typical format into more of a generalized automotive DVD, this time around driving what he finds to be his favourite car of the year, in much the same manner as Shoot-Out released 8 years prior. Once again, there are no car destructions. Vehicles driven include the Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren MP4...
•This was the second of two releases to come out on Blu-Ray in addition to DVD.
•This was the last Clarkson DVD; the next 3 years would see Clarkson collaborate with his Top Gear stablemates Richard Hammond and James May.
There’s the UK challenger to the 458... McLaren’s MP4-12C. Joining the action are the latest gizmo-laden Nissan GTR, Porsche's GT2 RS, the 570-horsepower Lamborghini Performante and the built-for-fun BMW 1M. Helping me are tame racing driver The Stig and the not-so-tame Formula One new boy, Karun Chandhok.
