Apr 15, 2015 · Arguably, the most iconic Art Deco skyscraper, the Chrysler Building was unofficially opened by Walter Chrysler on April 15, 1930. Designed by William Van Alen, it was briefly the tallest building in the world and the first building taller than the Eiffel Tower.
Its four-story, 3.3-million-square-foot building sprawls over 40 acres of its 500-acre site. This mammoth megastructure is Chrysler's high-technology center for automotive research and development. An executive tower rises fifteen stories.
