Jun 7, 2020 · Despite being an absurd and horrifying black comedy, Johnson is no less precise in his writing in Christie Malry’s Own Double-Entry than in the excruciating evocation of loss in his book-in-a-box. Indeed, much of the humour of the novel is dependent on Johnson’s ability to seamlessly intersperse the text with clauses, sentences and sections that break down the text’s artifice.
