Aug 16, 2024 · Saint-Joseph, in France's northern Rhône Valley, is comfortably the region's largest appellation in terms of geographical coverage. The appellation title covers both red wine made mainly from Syrah, and white wine made from Marsanne and Roussanne blended in varying proportions.
St Joseph is the second-largest appellation in the Northern Rhône with 50 growers producing wines from over 600 hectares of vineyards. Established in 1956, over 90 percent of the wine is red – made exclusively from the Syrah grape; the whites are typically a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne.
