Chasm City is a 2001 science fiction novel by British writer Alastair Reynolds, set in the Revelation Space universe. It deals with themes of identity, memory, and immortality, and many of its scenes are concerned primarily with describing the unusual societal and physical structure of the titular city, a major nexus of Reynolds's universe.
Chasm City is a sociologist's dream laboratory of contrasts between third world, sewer drenched squalor in the Mulch and first world disdain above. The two populations interact only when the post humans descend into the Mulch for the Game, which involves hunting down human prey.

Reynolds' prose is elegant and smart, the pacing in Chasm City is brilliant and the action is nonstop. Chasm City is Reynolds' second novel. The first, Revelation Space, is set in the same well-imagined universe, but Chasm City is in no way a sequel.
