May 24, 2020 · In 2013, the BBC’s ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ programme brought actress Minnie Driver to the RAF Museum to find out about her late father, Ronnie. As Aircraftman 1st Class Charles Ronald Driver, the front gunner of a No. 9 Squadron Wellington bomber, Ronnie displayed outstanding bravery during the disastrous Battle of Heligoland Bight on 18 December 1939.

I'm looking for more info on Charles Ronald Driver who was born in 1921 and lived in Stockton on Tees. I have his DFM citation which appeared in the L/G of 16 January 1940. The L/G of 24 December 1943 recorded his appointment to commission as a Flying Officer, on probation (emergency) with effect from 4th Nov. 1943.
PTSD wasn't a recognised term in 1939. Minnie Driver is an English actress and singer-songwriter. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Gus van Sant's Good Will Hunting (1997) for her role as Skylar, and an Emmy Award and Golden Globe for her work in the television series The Riches (2007-2008).
