In 2003, former members of different Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band lineups, led by drummer John "Drumbo" French (now on lead vocals), reunited to perform Beefheart's music under the name The Magic Band. The new Magic Band disbanded in 2006, but reformed again in 2009 before disbanding once again following a farewell tour in November 2017.
