Carolyn Marks Blackwood (born August 21, 1951) is an American fine art photographer, film producer, writer, screenwriter, and singer-songwriter. [2] Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Blackwood moved to New York State as a child, and finally to the Hudson Valley region of New York in 1999.

Aug 24, 2022 · Consumed by her daily photographic study of the water over which her studio is perched—as well as the sky that hovers above it—Blackwood’s images are not the romantic vistas of her predecessors, but almost their opposite: focused close-ups that capture the river’s power through the drama of detail.
From her studio on the edge of a 120-foot cliff over the Hudson River, she creates photographs that transform the play of light, weather, and water into vivid fields of color that, while verging on abstraction, are firmly anchored in the unique spirit and heritage of the Hudson.
