Veterans Administration Hospital. Louis B. Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center (LSCVAMC) is one of the five largest VA Medical Centers in the country providing health care to approximately 95,000 American veterans in northeast Ohio.
The two hospitals merged in 1971. The Cleveland VA Hospital developed from the CRILE HOSPITAL, opened in PARMA HEIGHTS in 1943 as a temporary army hospital. It was taken over by the VA in June 1946 and converted into a 1,000-bed general medical and surgical hospital to serve all veterans.
