Jul 28, 2024 · Master the art of indoor Dragonfruit care for a lush, tropical vibe at home! 🌿. 🌱 Bright, indirect light is key for Dragonfruit; use full-spectrum LEDs in winter. 💦 Water when top soil is dry and keep humidity at 40-60%. 🌡️ Ideal temps are 65°F-80°F; use well-draining, slightly acidic soil.
Dec 12, 2022 · To grow Dragon Fruit indoors, select a pot that’s at least 12 inches wide and deep, with drainage holes. Fill it with well-draining soil or cactus mix, and place your dragon fruit plant in the center, covering it with more soil.
- Hylocereus undatus
- Well-drained, organically rich, sandy
- 6.0-7.0 (neutral)
- Full sun (5-6 hours a day)
- The Container Comes First. For starters, a 5–6-gallon container (10–15 inches in diameter) that’s 10- to 12-inches deep will be just right for this plant.
- What About the Soil and the Fertilizer? While the dragon fruit is classified as a cactus, it doesn’t always behave like one. So, when it comes to the soil, see that it’s organically rich, neutral/acidic (6.0–7.0), and sandy.
- Watering: How Much is Enough? This cactus isn’t a big fan of water. Make sure to feed it in small doses to avoid overwatering. This is a very common mistake among amateur indoor gardeners: they believe that the more they water their plants, the better.
- Finding the Right Humidity Levels. For this plant, you won’t have to go for extreme humidity levels to help it flourish. The dragon fruit prefers below-average levels, 30%–50%.
Jun 13, 2024 · Should I Grow Dragon Fruit in the Ground or in a Container? Opt for containers that can be moved indoors for climates that experience frost. If you live in USDA zones 10-11, it’s best to grow dragon fruit outdoors in the ground or in a raised bed.
Mar 13, 2023 · Quick Care Tips. Medium Light: Get atleast 6 hours of sunlight per day, will tend to grow better with more though. Low Water: Water when the soil is dry, dragon fruits are succulents so don't do well with too much water. Medium: While dragon fruits require a bit of care, they are not too difficult once you get into a routine.
We recommend you to check out the U.S.D.A. plant hardiness zone you live in, as, depending on the environmental conditions in your area, you might have to grow dragon fruit in a pot and bring it inside the house in the winter.
