From Hannah and Her Sisters, I always wondered why she wasn't in the awards conversation. Her performance in Broadway Danny Rose was highly praised.

May 28, 2022 · Beatty made some great films: Bonnie and Clyde, Shampoo, Bugsy- and was one of the best looking men ever in film. He was also a serious Democratic Party activist and fundraiser. Very smart, private and vain. I think his vanity kind of ruined his acting as he aged. Still a fascinating man, much much more than a handsome hunk.

Seems to me he came into the games convinced the Wheaties box was his for the taking and must have been bummed the economic opportunities that come with an AA medal brings, but he might be a more compelling story this way.
