Plot. In New York in 1977, Spike fights Nikki Wood, a Slayer whom he will eventually kill, in a park at night in pouring rain while her son Robin watches from his hiding place behind a bench. Spike has the opportunity to kill her but Robin distracts him and he lets her go, vowing that they will meet again.

In "Lies My Parents Told Me" (7x17), we see in flashbacks how Spike turned his mother into a vampire. When Spike's mother sees him with Drusilla, she says "Where have you been? I've been beside myself for days!" Meaning she hasn't seen him since before he became a vampire.
Buffy is really the only one being told lies by a parent. Nikki really didn’t lie to Robin. She was upfront and told him “The mission is what matters, right?”
