Apr 26, 2022 · Radio host Bruce Russell is being remembered as a talented newsreader with an ‘‘inimitable personality’’. Stuff understands Russell died while at work at the Newstalk ZB central Auckland offices on Sunday night, before he was due to begin his shift on-air. Newstalk ZB confirmed his death in a statement yesterday.
Bruce in fact died of a heart attack while sitting at a desk preparing to do the overnight talk-back show the night before Anzac Day. It was a big shock because he didn’t have a history of heart problems and hadn’t been unwell leading up to his death.
