Apr 25, 2022 · Bruce Russell, one of New Zealand's longest-serving and beloved broadcasters, has died suddenly. The Newstalk ZB presenter was in his early 70s and working right up until his death as an overnight host, newsreader and host of the popular In My Day show on Saturday night.
Bruce in fact died of a heart attack while sitting at a desk preparing to do the overnight talk-back show the night before Anzac Day. It was a big shock because he didn’t have a history of heart problems and hadn’t been unwell leading up to his death.
