Brainstorm was an American funk and R&B band active in the late 1970s, based in Detroit, Michigan. Their debut album, Stormin', was their best-selling album, and was released in 1977 on Tabu Records, executive-produced by Clarence Avant and produced by Jerry Peters.
Brainstorm were formed as a splinter group from the band 5th Revelation. They made an inspirational / message track in 1977, 'Wake Up And Be Somebody,' but enjoyed their biggest hit later that year in 'Lovin' Is Really My Game'.
Belita Woods, the lead singer of the 70s group Brainstorm and also a frequent performer as part of the Parliament/Funkadelic posse, has died. Woods was the strong voice behind Brainstorm’s smash hit “Lovin’ Is Really My Game” as well as “This Must Be Heaven” and the group’s other memorable songs.
