BAA launched its award-winning literacy intervention program, Summer Reading, which has since served over 400 BAA struggling readers and trained dozens of teachers, interns from local colleges and universities, and volunteers.
BAA was the first urban school to receive the National School Library Media Program of the Year award from the American Association of School Librarians. The award recognizes exemplary school library programs that are fully integrated into the school's curriculum.
BAA won the National Schools of Distinction in Arts Education Award from the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education.
