As of today's date, George W. Curtis Elementary School remains in the heart of the Roseland community prepared and committed to service our scholars, our families and our community stakeholders. Curtis has two separate buildings located on one campus.
Elementary schools serve children who live in Chicago from kindergarten through eighth grade. Families can choose from their neighborhood elementary school, or they may apply to attend any other CPS school across the city that their student is eligible for and has available seats.
Chicago Heights School District 170 (CHSD170 or SD170) is a school district headquartered in Chicago Heights, Illinois. History. In 1901, the Board of Education decreed that the school day would run from 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon, and from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with a 15-minute recess each session.
