May 14, 2017 · Danzig are back with the 10threlease of original material entitled Black Laden Crown, and it’s a real mixed bag for me. First the Good: Glenn himself sounds in tip top shape. His voice, an eerie mix of Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison drenched in a gothic, sinister delivery that has become his gimmick, sounds better than ever.
Black Laden Crown is a thick, foggy nocturnal ride into the smoggiest depths of Glenn Danzig’s psyche, and by the time it’s over the silt layering will remain the only sign of the horror you’ve just been engulfed by.
Black Laden Crown is the band's first album of original material since Deth Red Sabaoth (2010), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in their career, and sees Danzig reunited with former drummer Joey Castillo, who appeared on two tracks but did not officially rejoin the band.

30 votes, 17 comments. 4.9K subscribers in the Danzig community. The Witching Hour and Pull The Sun are some of my all time favorites, and if you listen to the entire album, you'll be used to the sound of the production by the time you get to them.
Since it is a collection of covers and not an album of original material I don't think it's fair to compare, which I would compare Black Laden Crown or Deth Red Sabaoth over it. I know Skeletons is frequently viewed negatively but I think it's pretty strong.

May 25, 2017 · The vibe of Black Laden Crown can be gleaned by its song titles: “The Witching Hour”, “But a Nightmare”, “Blackness Falls”. The signature Danzig sound is omnipresent and consistent, but those looking for classic Danzig sing-alongs like “Am I Demon” and “Twist of Cain” will be disappointed.
