Former Pittsburgh Steelers executive Bill Nunn wasn’t just one of the first African-American scouts in NFL history. He was also one of pro football’s greatest innovators. Nunn wrote his annual Black College All-America team for the Pittsburgh Courier from 1950 until 1969.

Feb 7, 2021 · Taking the call: While Alan Faneca received his news in person, Lynell Nunn found out that her late father, Bill Nunn Jr., made it to the Hall of Fame in a different manner. She received the news via a Zoom call, one where they had to twist her arm a bit and maybe just stretch the truth to get her on there, but she eventually gave in.
Feb 12, 2021 · At the time of his passing, Nunn was survived by his wife, Frances; son, Bill Nunn III; and daughter, Lynell. Today, Lynell is the lone surviving member of the group. Nunn’s granddaughter, Cydney Nunn, is a public relations and marketing professional in Pittsburgh.

May 21, 2014 · FAREWELL—Bill Nunn Jr., a Steelers scout and pioneering Black journalist, died Tuesday, May 6 at age 89. His viewing was May 13, and he was buried Wednesday, May 14 from Grace Memorial Presbyterian Church. Above are his wife of 63 years Frances, and daughter Lynell. Not shown is son Bill Nunn II.
