The 10th Judicial District Office of the Public Defender is located in Cleveland, TN. With a Public Defender and other legal support staff, this office provides legal representation to indigent clients in the Bradley, McMinn, Monroe, and Polk County.
The decision was made to name the new town after the Revolutionary War General Benjamin Cleveland because many in Nashville hoped to attract the favor of a prominent North Carolinian family. Cleveland commanded North Carolina’s militia during the Revolutionary War and his most notable heroic actions in the Battle of King’s Mountain.
