Jun 2, 2017 · Set in Shrewsbury where Jess (Brenda Blethyn), a pillar of the community, lives with her dependable husband Jacob (Kevin Whately), together with Jacob’s mother May (Brenda Bruce), his aunt Brenda (Anna Massey) and his widowed elderly cousin Nathan (Peter Sallis).
Though the relations are demanding, kindhearted Jess -- who selflessly quit her job -- enjoys looking after them. But when Jacob disappears one day, Jess' life falls apart, and she must learn to cope with things on her own in this touching drama.
This was beautifully acted by all and told a good story of loss. Jess (Brenda Blethyn) and town handyman Jacob (Kevin Whately) have been happily married 20 years, recently taking in a trio of Jacob's elderly relatives, including his mother (Rosemary Harris).

Brenda Blethyn is terrific in this role, sympathetic, charitable, caregiving, loving. As someone says, she is a true saint. Rosemary Harris is stellar in her role as the cantankerous matriarch. Not a happy ending, not a sad ending, just a real one. Highly recommended for Brenda Blethyn fans!
