Bellshill (pronounced "Bells hill") is a town in North Lanarkshire in Scotland, ten miles (sixteen kilometres) southeast of Glasgow city centre and 37 mi (60 km) west of Edinburgh.

Apr 25, 2024 · Bellshill is a town found in North Lanarkshire ten miles southeast of Glasgow city centre which has produced many famous faces. The first mention of the town dates back to 1596 when it appeared on a handwritten map by Timothy Pont with it having a rich history of being an industrial town.
On his death, his wife inherited the property and, as she acquired much of the Orbiston estate, she renamed the house Orbiston. Mrs Cecilia Douglas moved in exalted circles: at one time or another she entertained Sir Waiter Scott, the Duke of Wellington, and Sir John Moore of Corunna fame.
Bellshill is a small town with a pleasant character, and the birthplace of Sir Matt Busby (Scottish Football Player and Manager). Its location proved ideal for industry when coal and iron were discovered underground, and it is still well located today.

Mar 18, 2022 · The head of the family was William Macdonald, he wife was Sarah. They had 4 children, John, Malcome, David and Mary. Mary, my mother in law was born in October 1923 in Crown(?) Terrace, Union Street Bellshill. She married my father Hashu Advani and had 11 children. One of the children, Ramesh, died in March 1952 aged 9 months.
