Band of Brothers is a 2001 American [2] war drama miniseries based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's 1992 non-fiction book of the same name. [3] It was created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who also served as executive producers, and who had collaborated on the 1998 World War II film Saving Private Ryan. [4]
Due to heavy casualties, a group of fresh paratrooper replacements joins Easy Co. in time for a massive drop into German-occupied Holland for Operation Market-Garden. While met with no resistance in Eindhoven, Easy and a cluster of British tanks are repelled from a nearby town by a superior German force, sustaining many casualties as they retreat.
Replacements have been brought in to bring the company back to full strength. Easy Company embarks on Operation Market Garden, a radical operation proposed to end the war in Europe by Christmas of 1944.
