Desmond's Journey is the title for a side quest accessed via the Pause Menu > Return to Animus Island.
This quest consists of 5 levels from a first person view in which Desmond must navigate through different rooms using a block manipulation mechanic. While navigating through the rooms, Desmond's past will be explored through dialogue as well as reveal what exactly had happened to him before he is brought to Abstergo Industries in the first Assassins Creed.
To begin the quest, find 5 Animus Data Fragments to activate the first pillar. You will then unlock the remaining pillars at 10, 15, 20, and 30 Animus Data Fragments. You do not have to complete the previous pillar to unlock the next one, so if you find 30 Data Fragments before you return, all 5 will be open.
