Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

Both a siege episode and an - ahem - family reunion, "Trapped Inside" brought back Evil Dead original Ellen Sandweiss as Ash's sister, Cheryl, providing us with a bloody-great showdown that managed to finally reveal Ash's heroic Deadite-slaying side to Elk Grove.

That's right, "Ashy Slashy" is no more (or at least, it'll be used in more positive terms) as Ash messily decapitated Cheryl in front of a Baal-driven angry mob, finally dropping the curtain on the world of demons to his hot-tempered townsfolk. Again, as mentioned last week, I'm not overly impressed with Baal since Ash has been able to thwart his stealth tactics twice now, but we'll have to see how our hero fairs face-to-face with the guy. Ash is down and out and it looks like Baal's got some devious plans for him. I just hope it's not a retread of "possessed Kelly" from Season 1.

Speaking of Kelly, her proactive viciousness and vulgarness ("I will f*** your face with bullets!") have really helped her shine this year. Back in "The Morgue," I wrote about how much I liked her and Ash as a duo and this week Ash even went so far as to call her the daughter he never had. This is a much more interesting path for her than the moments back in Season 1 when it seemed like she may have been just around so that Pablo could have an unrequited love interest. Now she feels more like Ash's natural successor.

Thanks to his mind (and face) meld with the Necronomicon last season, Pablo's journey this year has been a very specific one. Though it's also been one with no clear rules. All in all, we never know what's happening or why it's happening and the show isn't exactly helping by having Ruby mention that she doesn't even really understand what's going on either. So with no rules, the show can do whatever it wants to with Pablo really. It can even have him say, fight back against the forces controlling him and will a Baal spell onto his chest. We're really just along for the ride here.

I will say that Kelly being the one to coax Pablo back from the brink was a nice touch. Not only did she get to reference him being a "powerful vagina" but she called him a Ghostbeater! I was afraid the show had dropped that team name here in Season 2.

The show's M.O. is to leap from set to set and hit us with a bunch of single-location episodes. This week's worked better than last week's police station episode though because it was Ash's homestead. Not only did he have to deal with Tommy's jealous and the scorn of all the local citizens, but also his own tragic family history. Cheryl's demonic return cost us Chet (after she punched his heart out) but ultimately it allowed Ash to rise up even more and appear as a hero in front of the mob - much like he was able to do with his own dad back in "Last Call."

Ash and his Ghostbeaters may have been stuck inside his house for most of this episode, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a ton of carnage and some decent plot movement. Ruby admitted to being mortal while a thrashed and punished Pablo conjured up a special spell to defeat Baal. Meanwhile, Ash was forced to face down his long-dead sister. He may h...
