Resource. Below are some places to watch French TV for free when you live outside of France that I know of. Please feel free to comment if you have any other resources you'd like to add. Youtube: Franceinfo, France24, and Euronews français are the three prominent live streams.
Arte website has a live tv page but I am not sure it is accessible outside of France or Germany. In any case I don't think there is anywhere a live tv that also displays subtitles live (maybe during movies but that's all).
Netflix has at least two really good shows-- Dix Pour Cent (Call My Agent) and Au Service De Le France (A very secret service) that are worth your time. Amazon has the first (and third and fourth) seasons of Une Village Francaise which we're hooked on right now.
If you live in the United States, the best free streaming platform (and probably the best streaming platform period) for foreign films is Kanopy. All you need is a public library card to get a free account. There are probably 100+ films in French.

I rarely watch TV anymore (aside from sports), but Arte is one of the few channel I still check out. I love the documentaries, the live music and shows like Karambolage or 28 minutes. Definitively one of the best (if not the best) channels available in France.
