  1. Some things that seem different at WashU: While the academics are challenging, there is a very collaborative enironment among the students. The university is very accessible (professors, administrators, the campus) to undergrads. The dorms and food are better than average. The South 40 frosh experience is generally very good.

  2. College dorms are still college dorms, but WashU is really in a different league compared to 99% of both public and private schools. We have relatively huge rooms, great furniture, flexible temperature controls, amazing housekeepers, pleasant views, etc. It definitely helps you focus on what’s more important.

However, rooming with ambivalent acquaintances had its benefits – there was little drama (if little community), and few distractions (if no conversation). ...

  3. Eliot best, but you don't get to choose. I was placed in modern with a random roommate and hated it. Switched to a traditional single the second semester of freshman year bc I had so many problems. Mudd and Eliot B are pretty boujee. Umrath, SOFO, and Ligget-Koenig are also pretty nice. Eliot tower for life.
