In this installment Charles Gault is an engineer who has the unfortunate luck of being on a test run of a aircraft designed to travel to outer space.

It stars Charlie Gault, whose bad luck followed him everywhere he went. He is a scientific engineer turned spaceman that ends up crash landing on a foreign planet. “Bad Luck Charlie” is the first novel in the “Dragon Mage” series and was released in the year 2019.
It's progression, with Charlie learning skills, getting stronger, and exerting more control over magic as the series progresses, but no specific stats. We measure his improvement by way of his gaining skill/ability in situations organically in the story.
Charlie had thought having his spaceship sucked through a wormhole and crashing on an alien world was bad, which, admittedly, it was. But suddenly his dilemma was taking a very unexpected turn, and one decidedly for the worse.
