It definitely feels like it's on purpose to me or he has some deep latent homosexual feelings he's releasing through their relationship. He says he sucks at romance, and if we look at canon relationships he sort does, but Naruto and Sasuke's is pretty romantic.

Naruto doesn't seem gay to me at all though- he was just a lonely child that clang onto Sasuke cause he felt close to him and cause Sasuke offered him acknowledgement and unconditional love(his sacrifice at Haku) when Naruto needed it the most.

Sasuke too gets married to Sakura and has a child named Sarada. However, like any fandom, there is also those who like/love same-sex shipping.
