Play the original RDR first then RDR2. In part because the first while (especially for it’s time) was beautiful graphically, it’s not surprising that the second is even more so. Better mechanics in the second too. If you play the original second you may miss some mechanics and graphics.

- The Winner: Red Dead Redemption 2. When it comes to Rockstar games the newest title is usually going to supersede the previous marvel. That’s because they keep getting better and better at their craft.
- Cultural Impact: Grand Theft Auto V. This may a bit unfair to Red Dead Redemption 2, as it hasn’t even been out a year yet compared to Grand Theft Auto V. That said, time constraints or not that game is a lot more visible in society.
- Story: Red Dead Redemption 2. If the cast was better than that of Grand Theft Auto V then of course Red Dead Redemption 2 was also going to nail the story.
- Transportation: Grand Theft Auto V. Riding on a horse on an old town road is a dream come true for western fans. That said, getting around the giant environment without one is a pain.
- Dutch Name Drops A GTA IV Character. After a bank heist gone terribly wrong, Arthur, Dutch, and some of the gang escape Saint Denis on a boat that then shipwrecks, stranding them on the island of Guarma.
- Sandy Shores Has Red Dead Redemption Locales As Street Names. Sandy Shores is a small town located in the deserts just outside of Los Santos. Memorizing street names is the last thing most GTA players would do but Red Dead Redemption fans will take note of Sandy Shores' street names as they share them with locales from New Austin, an area in Red Dead Redemption.
- Red Dead Redemption' Sasquatch Hunter Seemingly Has A Descendant In GTA. Ever since the GTA: San Andreas bigfoot myth, Rockstar has had fun with the myth of sasquatch in its games.
- UFOs In Both Games Look Similar To Each Other. Red Dead Redemption and GTA are the last games where people expect to find aliens, but both have UFO Easter eggs that you can find.

GTA was a fantastic game, but in nearly every sense, it's inferior to RDR2. From graphics, to story, character development, gameplay mechanics, realism, detail, immersiveness, weight, side quests, world building. GTA is 10 years old and just cannot compete at this point.
