The cashew is a tree in the family Anacardiaceae. Its English name derives from the Portuguese name for the fruit of the cashew tree, caju, which in turn derives from the indigenous Tupi name, acaju. It is now widely grown in tropical climates for its cashew nuts and cashew apples.
The cashew tree is large and evergreen, growing to 14 metres (46 feet) tall, with a short, often irregularly shaped trunk. [2] The leaves are spirally arranged, leathery textured, elliptic to obovate, 4–22 centimetres (11⁄2 – 83⁄4 inches) long and 2–15 cm (3⁄4 –6 in) broad, with smooth margins.

Leaf Morphology. The cashew tree leaves are spirally arranged, leathery in texture, and exhibit an elliptic to obovate shape.
