COLUMBUS. The story of the most famous steel tubes in the history of cycling began in 1919 when Angelo Luigi Colombo founded his steel mill with the ambition to “to do busi ness in iron and steel and make a fair and honest profit".
Columbus’ is an important story in the history of Italian design, well preserved and re-built thanks to the meritorious will of Antonio Colombo, son of Angelo Luigi, who wanted to create the Columbus Archive, encouraging studies, publications (the volume Flessibili splendori.
Colombo supplied tubes for racing car chassis, and Colombo’s son, Gilberto, designed chassis for the immortal Italian manufacturers Lancia, Maserati and Ferrari.
