Andrew Orr has once again brought forth a backlit landscape from his personal corner of his property. It sold in a few hours and created the request for a similar commission. So we are back to one available painting in the gallery by Andrew Orr!
Although, I am primarily a studio painter I strive to create paintings that retain a sense of spontaneity and life often associated with outdoor painting. As I have painted since 1998, full-time, it is often hard to define what might be some of my artistic goals.
An elected member of the Guild of Boston Artists, Andrew Orr’s awards include Alden Bryan Prize awarded by the Guild and most recently the Alden Bryan Medal as awarded by artist TM Nicholas with the exhibition, Land and Light 2018, through Bryan Memorial Gallery, Vermont.
The surrounding hills offer an expansive view of the landscape while the countryside of the Missisquoi River valley presents gentler prospects of fields and forests—all of them the subjects of Orr’s painting. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he found solace in all of those landscapes.
