(also spelled Élite or ÉLITƎ) is a Spanish series featured on Netflix. The series presents a large ensemble cast portraying students at a prestigious prep school and includes the actors, Miguel Herrán, Aron Piper, Mina El Hammani, Omar Ayuso, María Pedraza, Itzan Escamilla and more. The first season was released on Netflix on 5 October 2018.
On 17 October 2018, Netflix renewed the series for a second season, which was released worldwide on 6 September 2019. On 30 August 2019, a week before the second season's release, Netflix quietly renewed the series for a third season, which was confirmed to have wrapped filming by Ester Expósito on 1 October 2019. It was released worldwide on 13 March 2020. Miguel Herrán and Jaime Lorente left the show after two seasons due to scheduling conflicts with the series Money Heist.
On May 19, 2020, Netflix announced that Danna Paola, Ester Expósito, Jorge López, Álvaro Rico and Mina El Hammani would not return for any future seasons after season three. On May 22, 2020, the remaining original cast revealed via Twitter that they had received their scripts and the series would be coming for a fourth season. It was released worldwide on June 18, 2021.
On February 25, 2021, Netflix officially announced that the series has been renewed for a fifth season. The renewal came before Season 4 has even premiered on Netflix. It was released on April 8, 2022.
On May 13, 2021, Netflix announced a weeklong, #EliteWeek, special of short episodes under the title Elite: Short Stories. It premiered from June 14 with one episode per day, until Thursday 17. On July 16, 2021, Miguel Bernardeau announced via the Elite social media accounts that he is leaving the series after four seasons. On July 19, 2021, it was announced that Arón Piper is leaving the series. Andrés Velencoso also did not return.
On October 28, 2021, Netflix announced that it has renewed the series for a sixth season, ahead of the series’ fifth season release. Additionally, Netflix confirmed three new holiday-themed installments of the short-form spinoff Elite Short Stories: Phillipe Caye Felipe, premiered Wednesday, December 15, Samuel Omar, premiered Monday, December 20 and Patrick premiered Thursday, December 23. It was released on November 18, 2022. On May 2022, it was announced that Itzan Escamilla left the series after five seasons. Omar Ayuso, Claudia Salas, Georgina Amorós and Pol Granch were also confirmed to be leaving.
When three low-income students are offered scholarships to attend an exclusive high school after their original school collapses, their more affluent classmates react with distrust and hostility. The friction that ensues as a result of their enrollment at the school results in a murder, which irrevocably alters all of their lives.
