Marthe Robin (13 March 1902 in Châteauneuf-de-Galaure, Drôme, France – 6 February 1981 in Châteauneuf-de-Galaure) was a French Roman Catholic mystic and stigmatist [1] [2] and foundress of the Foyers de charité ("Charity homes") association.
Marthe Robin (1902-1981) Childhood and youth. Marthe was born in Châteauneuf de Galaure (Drôme department, France) on March 13, 1902, into a peasant family. She stayed in school until she was 13, and also took catechism classes, even though the region was strongly marked by anti-clericalism.
From 2 October 1930, Marthe Robin began to receive the stigmata every Friday, i.e. the wounds mirroring those of Jesus Christ on the Cross. Like other great figures of holiness, St Francis of Assisi, St Catherine of Siena and St Padre Pio, here she was, manifesting in her body the afflictions endured by Jesus.
