Jul 26, 2020 · Based on your lack of familiarity with Amherst, coupled with your focus on Amherst only, it seems that you are early in your college search. Both Amherst and Brown are high reaches for almost everybody, so starting your college search by focusing on these two colleges is a good way to end up disappointed next spring.
It sounded like Brown but smaller and more student focused and it was on the opposite coast so it was a fun new experience. Columbia, Dartmouth, Wesleyan and Williams. I thought Columbia seemed rundown and Williams seemed too isolated, so my decision really came down to Dartmouth and Amherst.
