But the public areas – including the three-deck Central Court atrium, Raffles Bar, the Observatory and the light and airy Botanical Bar – were all upgraded when Ambassador bought it.

   We embarked at Liverpool then onto Belfast, Cohb, Falmouth, a day at sea and return. 27/07/24 to 01/08/24. It felt more like a good ferry than a cruise ship, lacking the cruise sparkle. It’s an old ship that has been partially refurbished but not to a particularly high standard. It’s very “worn round the edges” and it’s hard to disguise.

   Love cruising with Ambassador but feels like take your money and forget you. The service has been very good however I was a little disappointed when we recommended Ambassador to a friend who tried to book an inside cabin on the same cruise as us in mid October. We had booked an inside cabin on the cruise in June were fully paid up in August.

   • Just had the most amazing time on Ambassador cruise ship Ambition. Leaving from a local port was fantastic, embarkation went very smoothly. Our cabin was spotless and very comfortable. Food was really good with lots of variety. We had a drinks package which for us was well worth the price, it includes specialist coffees not just alcohol.

   Is Ambassador a multi-generational cruise?

   • It was perfect for us. Although it’s an adult-only cruise line, a handful of Ambassador cruises are labelled ‘multi-generational’, including our ‘Summertime Multi-Generational Fjordland’ itinerary. This meant the ship was at maximum capacity with many two or three different generations travelling together and some larger groups.

   Is ambition a good cruise ship?

   • If you never get off a cruise ship in a destination port, then Ambition is a wonderful ship. It's decor is lovely, seating good and cabins acceptable (with tired bathrooms). The bed was glorious though and all the staff were very good. Our cabin steward, Adi, was exceptional. The entertainment is so, so good. Wonderful plays, musicals and concerts.
