Alyth (/ ˈ eɪ l ɪ θ /) (Scottish Gaelic: Ailt) is a town in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, five miles (eight kilometres) northeast of Blairgowrie and about 17 miles (27 kilometres) northwest of Dundee. In 2016 the town had an estimated population of 2,400.
Alyth is a picturesque town at the foot of Alyth Hill. The area surrounding Alyth is steeped in ancient history. To the north east of Alyth is a Pictish Hill fort where, as local legend has it, Guinevere from Arthurian legend was once imprisoned.
Alyth. Alyth lies just off the main road from Blairgowrie to Kirriemuir on the southern slopes of the hills that form the Forest of Alyth. It is a town with an ancient history, evidence of which can be seen particularly where the village starts to climb the Hill of Alyth to the north.
