Going through a suicide attempt and managing the days and weeks afterwards can be overwhelming. You might feel a range of different emotions, and these may change over time. However you're feeling, it's ok. You might feel: Relieved – you might be relieved that you survived the attempt.
For example, some people may describe suicide attempts as selfish, cowardly or attention-seeking. But this is unhelpful and unfair – many people who attempt suicide see it as their only option. Others might describe a suicide attempt as 'unsuccessful' or 'failed'. Or say someone tried to 'commit' suicide. But these words all imply judgement.
