The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center is a complex comprising several buildings related to the life and presidency of Rutherford B. Hayes. It is the first presidential library, built in 1916, and one of three such libraries for US presidents during the 19th century.
Alfred Hayes (1857–1936) was an English poet and translator. Son of E. J. Hayes, Town Clerk of Birmingham , Alfred Hayes was born at Wolverhampton in 1857, and educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, and New College, Oxford .
Enjoy free admission to the Hayes Home and museum and free activities for kids throughout the day! Hayes Home tours are of the first floor only and last a half hour. They will take place every 15 minutes starting at 9:15 a.m. with the last tour leaving at 4:30 p.m.
Use of the presidential library, which has a massive genealogy and local history collections, is free. The museum was renovated in early 2016 and includes interactive exhibits that tell the story of Rutherford and Lucy, the issues they faced and what they thought about those issues.
