Alan Patrick Mullery MBE (born 23 November 1941) is an English former footballer and manager. After enjoying a successful career with Fulham , Tottenham Hotspur , and the England national team in the 1960s and 1970s, he became a manager working with several clubs.
For all that he achieved, though, both with England and Spurs, Mullery laments that it’s the time he became the first England player to be sent off in the country’s 424th international encounter that so many people still remember him for.
