Sep 18, 2024 · Chen received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Central Conservatory in Beijing, and in doing so became the first woman to earn an M.A. in music composition from the institution. She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from Columbia University in New York and has served as Composer in Residence in the Women’s Philharmonic, Chanticleer and Aptos Creative Arts Center.
