Once in a while a few elk will walk through the campsites.
Some groceries are available at the Marina Store at Woods Canyon Lakes which is approximately three miles from the campground. The store also offers boat and kayak rentals. This lake is a great location for fishing.

Sep 11, 2024 · Mather Campground. Open year-round. With over 300 sites, this is the main campground at the Grand Canyon. Mather is located close to the Grand Canyon Village and the main visitor center. As with most National Park campgrounds, the fees are very low: around $20 per night. Pros: It’s close to the main sites.
Rim Campground. FR 9350 Campground. Mogollon Campground, although not directly in the Woods Canyon Recreation area, sits just outside and is only two miles from the lake. For those who like spectacular views, this campground is one of the closest to the Mogollon Rim. Mogollon Campground is surrounded by ponderosa pines.

Cottonwood is about 7 miles from the North Rim, along the upper reaches of Bright Angel Creek. It's a nice spot with campsites alongside the North Kaibab Trail. It's the most remote camping option on the rim-to-rim. Indian Garden Campground is the only campsite on the south side of the Colorado River, just off the Bright Angel Trail.
