Chapter 4 finds Landon pondering Jamie's behavior at the dance. He finds it inexplicable that anyone could be that compassionate and kind and wonders whether he is starting to like her as more than a classmate.
Jamie's slow, painful walk down the aisle is, indeed, "a walk to remember." In the last chapter of the novel, 57-year-old Landon reflects on the 40 years that have passed since his wedding to Jamie. He still loves her and has not removed his wedding ring in all those years.
This chapter gives us more details about Landon’s relationship with his father. Landon is unable to fulfil the expectations his father has of him. He does, however, give in and decides to stand for the student body elections. The reader also learns about how Landon and Jamie get acquainted.
Summary. Life returns to normal for Landon. His father is back in Washington, D.C.; Landon and his friends sneak out to spend late nights at the graveyard; and Landon doesn't see Jamie very much. Eventually Jamie calls Landon, although he first thinks the voice is Angela's.
