      • Nasolabial folds are the indentation lines on either side of the mouth that extend from the edge of the nose to the mouth’s outer corners. They become more prominent when people smile. These folds also tend to deepen with age. Some people develop wrinkles next to the nasolabial folds, which may be more visible during smiling.

    • Surgery for marionette lines. The only wrinkle treatment considered permanent is surgery. For significant wrinkles, a dermatologic surgeon might recommend a rhytidectomy (facelift).
    • Laser resurfacing. While also considered an invasive therapy for wrinkles, laser treatments don’t require the incisions that facelifts do. Laser resurfacing works by removing the top layers of your skin via lasers.
    • Botox for marionette lines. Botulinum toxin type A (Botox) injections are popular solutions for facial wrinkles around the mouth and eyes. These work by relaxing the facial muscles underneath the injection site.
    • Dermal fillers. Like Botox, dermal fillers are temporary injectables that can help treat marionette lines in their earlier stages. Unlike Botox, fillers don’t relax muscles.
    • Get Fillers. One of the most common solutions to unwanted aging signs is injectables—specifically hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. "Fillers can be used to soften the appearance of lip lines," Dr. Camp explains.
    • Give Yourself an Oil Massage. For an easy—albeit unconventional—at-home treatment, you can give yourself a mini facial with an ultra-hydrating oil. Oils are famously revered for their anti-aging benefits—they fight free-radical damage to cells and are typically rich in antioxidants.
    • Try Laser Resurfacing. Lasers can be used to treat many skin issues, from sunspots and acne scars to stretch marks and skin growths—and, most pertinently, fine lines and wrinkles.
    • Use a Collagen-Based Serum. Like hyaluronic acid, collagen is something our bodies produce less of as we get older. And you’ve certainly heard this before: It’s one of the most important proteins for promoting healthy skin—as well as banishing wrinkles and dryness.
