One night at a Seattle lake, a giant ball of light crashes to the surface… and when it's gone, standing there are 4400 people, all of whom had vanished over the past 60 years. So begins The 4400, the late, great series that told the tale of many of these returnees and those who had to deal with their return.

Assigned to deal with the 4400 situation is NTAC, a division of Homeland Security, most notably agents Tom Baldwin (Joel Gretsch) and Diana Skouris (Jacqueline McKenzie). While both don't know what to make of these bizarre circumstances, Tom has a more personal interest from the start – his nephew Shawn (Patrick Flueger) is one of the 4400, and his son Kyle (Chad Faust) ended up in a coma during the same encounter that took Shawn. Soon though all these characters will find themselves changing in dramatic ways in the wake of what has happened.

Initially, The 4400 took a sort of "freak of the week" formula, as Tom and Diana investigated a different 4400 member each episode, all of whom slowly began to develop superhuman abilities – everything from superhuman strength, to mind control to telekinesis. However, things change considerably with the introduction of Jordan Collier (Billy Campbell), a wealthy 4400 who opens a center for the 4400 that soon turns into something akin to a religious movement.

The 4400 is the kind of show many will continue to discover as time goes on. While it's perhaps not everything it could be, it's still great to have this new set collecting the show's impressive, if truncated, run in one box.
