Oct 5, 2018 · The 17 Soccer Rules - “Laws of the Game” Rule #1 - The Field of Play. The first rule looks at how the field is set up. In the standard 11-a-side match match, the pitch must be 90 to 120 metres in length and 45 to 90 metres wide, with the touchlines being longer than the goal lines.
Football (11 v 11) Law 8 - The Start and Restart of Play. A kick-off starts both halves of a match, both halves of extra time and restarts play after a goal has been scored. Free kicks (direct or indirect), penalty kicks, throw-ins, goal kicks and corner kicks are other restarts (see Laws 13 – 17).

For example, if the ball goes out of play because of a foul by Team A against Team B, the restart must be a free kick to Team B even if a Team B player strikes an opponent; offending Team B player would, however, be liable for misconduct (i.e. yellow card or red card).

Corner flags must be at least 1.5 m (5 ft) high and must not be pointed or dangerous. Players must not move the corner flag to take a corner kick or throw-in. There is a curved line (arc) drawn inside the pitch from the touchline to the goal line with a radius of 1 m (1 yd) from the corner flag.
