The daily newspaper 24 Chasa (24 Hours) is seen as a pioneer of the free Bulgarian press. After the fall of communism it became one of the first independent media to quickly develop into a mass-circulation newspaper and hence a leader of public opinion.

«24 часа» or «24 chasa» is a daily information and analytical newspaper in Bulgaria, published since 1991 in the city of Sofia. The publication brought a completely different form of presentation to the Bulgarian print market. In translation, newspaper name means «24 Hours».
24 Chasa. Launched in April 1991 by journalist and publisher Petyo Blaskov, the mass-market tabloid formula adopted by 24 Chasa (“24 hours”) proved to be an immediate success. Bought by an Austrian-Bulgarian joint venture in 2010, the daily is reputed to be the second largest newspaper in Bulgaria.
