It is a brooding, black stone castle perched on a vertiginous plug of rock overlooking the cultivated plains of the Anatolian plateau. The views are absolutely spellbinding, and the climb up to the top (not for the faint-hearted) is exhilirating.

Approaching the small town of Şebinkarahisar from Giresun on the Black Sea coast the road south from the Eğribel Pass (2260m) descends steeply into a beautiful valley which is at its most dramatic as you near the town.
The Şebinkarahisar Atatürk House Museum is a traditional Şebinkarahisar house that holds historical significance as the place where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, stayed for a night during his visit to Şebinkarahisar on October 11, 1924.
